It might surprise you after all this lack of posting, but I am actually still alive. I have been suffering from a multiple year long case of writer’s block, but it has shifted enough that I am now more or less capable of writing 500 words a day.
This means that I am very very slowly working my way through a new book.
In the current political landscape, I wanted to only write about soothing things, so this one is not a murder mystery, it’s a book of small mysteries, such as “my fiance has disappeared, please find her,” “my sister believes I stole the ring from her dressing table and now she won’t speak to me,” and “my boat is helplessly drifting down the canal, please help.”
At my new very slow, halting pace, I’ve written 13 chapters out of 15, and only have the various happy endings to go.
That’s only the first draft, however. So I’m not going to be finished this year (2025). But I am going to be finished some time in 2026.
2026 is going to be the break of the drought! (God willing!)
I have a cover in mind already though. I made that before I started writing 🙂
But now I am close to finishing the book, I should buy the shutterstock image and make it up for real. Exciting times!
